History
This page contains information information regarding the history of the Sidhe. Players need to be aware of these events when playing or writing their character profile. It is a lot of information, but no one is expected to memorise it, just use this page as a reference. The Fey originally existed in Europe, and there were many courts with different kings and queens. Each was independent and and they fought among themselves. In the end they agreed on one high ruler and so, the Seelie Court was created. The first ruler of the Unseelie Court was a Sidhe who was exiled from the Seelie Court. He refused to leave faerie and petitioned the other courts to accept him. They refused due to their fear of the Sidhe, and in the end it was the Slaugh who accepted him. The Fey became so powerful that faerie itself recognised him and created a kingdom for him to rule; the Unseelie Court.
Over two thousand years ago the Sidhe were at war with the Goblins. Many women, Sidhe and Goblin, were raped by the men of both species. Most of the babies that were born were left outside the Goblin Sithen, where they were taken in my the goblins. The war ended after the goblins lost their spell-casters. Many were slain by the Sidhe, but it was a spell by the Seelie Court that drained the goblins of their magic.
Due to wars between the Courts and between Fey and humans, the Fey were forced to leave Europe or give up their heritage. The Fey that remained in Europe had to agree to give up their heritage, to live with the humans and intermarry with them. Those that did not want to destroy faerie were offered a place in the United States by Thomas Jefferson. This too came with limitations, and the Fey of both courts came together in a wielding of power. There were three wieldings, each one causing the fey to lose power. Those that used to be gods were no longer. Some Fey lost very little power, while others lost a great deal. The third and final time the courts worked together in a spell was the creation of the Nameless. The spell stripped the fey of the worst of both courts, everything that was too hungry and too awful. It was done so that they could live in the USA easier, and to make them more human. Many Sidhe changed their names when they lost their power since they were no longer the same person.
It was during the early 1800's that fey were invited to the U.S. by Jefferson. Not everyone agreed with Jefferson's decision, and he created a police force, stationed in St. Louis (the largest esablished city at the time), to protect the fey from the humans, and the humans from the fey. The faerie courts used bribes to calm some of people in power and some of the government branches, but the local humans were not as easily calmed. Eventually the humans realised that the Fey wanted to be left alone, and the Bureau of Human and Fey Affairs is now only called during an emergency.
It is the Bureau of Human and Fey Affairs that watches the Fey to make sure that they do not break the laws they had to agree to when they came to America. The courts were forced to agree to peace, a peace that does not exist as truly as the humans believe. In private the Seelie and Unseelie Courts are very much at war, they just keep it from the humans. One of the most important rules is that no Fey would set themselves up to be worshipped as a god by humans. It is also illegal for fey to use magic on journalists, to have sex with a humans under the age of 18 and without protecting their mind (humans become elf-struck). All offences could get the fey exiled from the U.S. The Queen and King will punish anyone found to be going against all the rules. While there is not peace between the courts, they will punish anyone who does something that would risk the exile of faerie.
